Our Origin

Papua New Guinea

Our 1,500 hectares Cocoa plantation is located in Gunanur, Papua New Guinea. It is located in the coastal belt of the east New Britain province. Our Cocoa variety Trinitario is widely know as the world’s finest Cocoa hybrid (a cross-fertilisation of Criollo & Forastero) Their progenies (hybrid Cocoa) supersede with their high yield and fine flavour. The quality of our Cocoa is based on the best practices of harvesting, fermenting and winnowing which produces dark-coloured chocolate, specific aroma, texture and astringency.

In addition to our own plantations, we have buying points in the major Cocoa-producing areas  of Lae, Madang, Buka – Bougainville, Arawa – Bougainville, Rabaul – East New Britain, Wewak and Maprik.

Vanuatu & Solomon Islands

Throughout the Pacific Islands WR Carpenter Trading maintains year-round buying points in the major Cocoa-producing provinces in Solomon Islands – in Guadalcanal, Malaita and Makira- and in Vanuatu – in Islands Malekula, Santo, Ambae & Epi.

In-country presence also allows us to focus on providing vital support to the farmers. We believe in maintaining and improving farmers’ incomes by assisting them in achieving higher yields and by ensuring they receive a fair price for their cocoa. Our capacity development initiatives include offering cocoa farmers individual technical assistance from our experienced field staff.
